Obituaries Research Tip
Though it is considered a secondary source, obituaries probably contain more genealogical information
about the deceased than any other source. The Internet has provided a greater access to published
obituaries than ever before. If you do not find an obituary for your ancestor in the following pages,
call or write the library in the town in which your ancestor died. The library will often have access
to historical copies of the local newspapers and usually can find the obituary for a small fee, if they
have even an approximate date of death.
