Cemetery Research Tip

In ages past the sexton was the person in charge of the cemetery and its records. They are now called cemetery superintendents. The cemetery records usually contain the name of the deceased, the date of burial, the age at death, and the relationship to the survivor. Though obituaries list many relationships to the deceased, cemetery records may include information on relatives that are buried in the plot but not named on the grave marker.
